We're back from a quiet, snuggly weekend in Blue Ridge. We had the best time. We were disappointed to find a gas log fireplace when we arrived after Mr. Broome had loaded up plenty of wood to take with us. Then the gas logs weren't working and we ended up turning up the heat and opening the door just to smell our neighbors fire. Needless to say, when we got home I begged Mr. Broome to start a fire. I snuggled up with a new book and read until I fell asleep.
I can't wait to post a few fall pictures from this past weekend. I hadn't been to Blueridge before, but the town was quaint and cozy and of course the trees we're beautiful.

Man, what I wouldn't give for better pictures from this event.
Holly and I ran in a "Down and Dirty Mud Run" on Sunday. I won't lie, I was secretly a little apprehensive about it. I really don't like to be dirty. It's the girl in me. But. I couldn't turn up a fun race with my fitness buddy.
Let me tell you one of the many reasons why I like Holly.
Our t-shirts.
It's been a long time since I made t-shirts for anything. I would guess the last time I made a t-shirt or costume of any sort was in college on the AZD hall. Holly said we needed to make t-shirts and came up with a few theme names for them. Her favorite and mine was "Victorious Secret." Get it??
Victorious we were. We finished 12th(Holly) and 13th(Me) out of 144 other women in our age range. I guess that means we're fast for our age... whoohoo! Too bad when I was looking at the race results, I kept searching the 18- 24 year old range. I kept searching for my name, perplexed as to where it was. Then it hit me. I am 26.
I promise we don't look half as dirty as we actually were. There was dirt coming out of my ears after I had gotten home and showered. We had the very best time. Holly is the kind of girl who will kill a box of munchkins with you before running a race where walking isn't a part of her equation. Holly is also walking in the Susan G. Komen 3-day walk for a cure for breast cancer. That is 60 miles in 3 days! Do you think you'll still be up for Monday Runday Hols? ;)
Hope everyone is having a good week!

Betsy ran a little over three miles with me yesterday. We're working on her diet and fitness. We have to have the Betser around for many years to come.
I was hurrying out the door this evening to meet Mr. Broome for dinner. He was just getting home from his second week in New Jersey. This amazing rainbow stopped me in my tracks. I had to grab my camera. I wish it was as pretty in the picture as it was standing in my front yard.
There were actually two rainbows, but you can't see them that well in my pictures.
Wow, I really love a good rainbow.....
The weather was crazy today. Off and on rain, a giant Lucky Charms rainbow, and then more rain that you could barely see to drive through. At the end of the evening though, you could see the storms moving out.
Did I mention that I love Fall? Can you imagine the leaves dying in such vibrant color? Makes me think of the Lord's love.

Oh man. Fall is in full force. Never mind the rain the last few days.. we needed it right?
I love the road leading to our home.
We have a new critter at our house. I think our home is a catch all for needy animals. I'm not sure this is a good thing. I certainly don't want to be called the cat lady.. this new guy has no name yet, but he sure is cute.
Betsy might disagree.
Can't tell you how many times we took this picture. The cats and Betsy we're not getting the whole "family in front of the fall scene" picture. Not sure that I don't look constipated either.

Mr. Broome started feeling nasty after we took pictures. I think he caught something from the Jersey Shore.. He spent all of last week in New Jersey for work. Betsy and I we're sad, but we made the best of it with girl dinners and snuggling.
Pinterest is addicting. I've found so many recipes that I'm so anxious to try. The above is a super easy sticky buns recipe. They were definitely sticky, but yummy too.
Mmm.. the finished product!
The 1st Mr. and Mrs. Broome posed in front of the fall decor too. This fall scene is pretty freakin serious. Andy has spotlights shining on it in the evenings. Because who doesn't LOVE fall???
